It’s good to go, that’s all you have to do and you’re ready to rock! Pros We have a USB end, and so I’ll plug it in. I’ve been known to snag a printer cable in a pinch.Īll you have to do to make your interface work, is simply plug the cable into the back of the unit. That’s right you can take the same cable you use for your usb interface and connect it to a printer or vice versa. Funny enough it’s actually the same connection that you’d see on the back of a printer. Your monitor knob controls you volume out of your outputs which are located in the back of the unit. That volume is controlled with the knob above the headphone jack which is where I actually monitor. Here we have the direct monitor switch which when on makes it so that you can hear yourself despite whether you’re recording or not. When pressed it supplies your condenser mics with 48v of power. Set it to instrument for guitars, line for pics.

Here we have the line and instrument setting. This gives you more control than you’d have with a usb mic. Here we have the gain knob which is where you set your microphone level. That’s why it has the outer circle and 3 points on the inner circle. This same jack also doubles as an XLR input, so you can actually plug your microphone into this same spot. meaning that the center hole is specifically a quarter inch input for instruments like guitars. If we direct our attention over to the input you’ll notice that it is a dual input. It’s what I recommend for podcasters or those starting out in voiceover, it’s a great affordable interface packed with useful features. Lucky for me, it’s been a complete workhorse that consistently delivers every time, and so I’ve gone ahead and created an overview of the Scarlett and all her charms.

Question The microphone is working and my Mac detects the device, but won't transfer sound - why? Question Why microphones do and do not work Thanks for the advice, I've decided to wait a bit more so I have enough money for the 2i2 interface, because it will be more worth it in the long run and probably have less technical issues. It's the exact same thing (mic, cable, preamp, and headphones) but it has the scarlett 2i2 which is better quality than the presonus, and the included headphones and mic are really good too. You should consider Focusrite Scarlett studio. My tascam sits buried half the time, just using it to get audio into the PC, don't use the transport or faders anymore. It's easier to grab the mouse and move the fader on the screen. In reality, unless you are mixing 100 tracks and want a huge automated mixing board, you don't use it much. Headphone, box, Studio one software, mic and cable all in 1 package to replace my old Tascam USB Mixer. I'm considering the Presonus AudioBox studio. If it's crap at that stage, no plugins or anything else is going to help down the chain. They all have decent preamps in them, and that is the first thing the sound from the microphone hits. The M-audio's are decent, so is the Presonus stuff. The Focusrite preamps will blow away the Behringers, no doubt in my mind. The Behringer is cheap because it's cheap.
